About
The Grounding Co. was born from a season of deep transformation.
The mediums we apply to our products and practice are grounded in centuries-old tactile and slow art forms of expression as vehicles for processing, meditation, and relief.
We believe that creativity isn't about the final product, but the sacred act of presence. Through tactile mediums and guided meditation, we create space for you to slow down, breathe, and artfully embrace the concept of impermanence.
Our Story

The Pillars of Our Process
Guided by grounding, presence, and the art of release.
Radical Presence
We prioritize the act of creating over the finished result, fostering a space for total immersion in the now.
Tactile Connection
Engaging the senses through physical mediums like sand and clay to bridge the gap between mind and body.
Intention & Impermanence
Honoring the beauty of things that don't last, teaching us to value memory over possession.
Creative Wellness
Utilizing multidisciplinary art forms as a therapeutic tool for burnout, grief, and digital healing.
Founder & Maker
"Art is a vehicle of sentience. It is what makes existence worth the living."
- Fatima De Leon Koolmees
Fatima De Leon Koolmees is a self-taught multidisciplinary artist and responsible tech enthusiast. Her practice spans watercolor pencil, sand art, ikebana, pottery, and mixed media. She evolves freely across mediums, drawn to whatever form best serves the story. Her work is rooted in figurative surrealism and explores feminine mythology, the juxtaposition of stillness and movement, and the unexplainable forces of nature. Her creative work is driven by storytelling, process, and working by hand.
With a background in business, tech, and operations, Fatima has long been an early adopter of emerging technologies. She founded The Grounding Co. to hold space for human, hands-on creation in parallel with an increasingly automated world.

What Students Say
"My experience felt wholesome. It was a calming environment and I felt encouraged to be vulnerable. There was a time I bawled during reflection and Fatima provided some comfort which was really nice! I enjoyed layering colorful sand and it being temporary was hard (I wanted to keep it lol) but it kind of reflected on how life moves on but the experience stays with us"
